Sweetwater officer killed in motorcycle crash to be buried Tuesday

The Sweetwater police officer who died in a motorcycle crash Sunday will be buried Tuesday.

Bryan Marrero will be laid to rest at 11 a.m. at Graceland Memorial Park, 13900 SW 117th Ave., according to Sweetwater officials.

Marrero, 22, lost control of his motorcycle about 11:15 a.m. Sunday in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 near the Northwest 154th Street overpass, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Marrero’s motorcycle collided with a guardrail, throwing him from the bike, FHP said. He died at the scene.

Marrero was off duty and riding his personal motorcycle. He was wearing a helmet and jacket at the time, according to FHP.

Marrero was in his second year with the Sweetwater Police Department.

City officials said Marrero would be buried on the same date as his mother, Mabel Marrero, two years after she died from breast cancer.

An off-duty Sweetwater police officer was killed on Sunday in a motorcycle accident and strong winds from Hurricane Sandy may have been a factor, the city has announced.

Miami-Dade police released a video Wednesday showing a car robbery at a gas station.
