Woman, infant child killed in crash

FROSTPROOF, Fla. -- Authorities say a central Florida woman and her infant daughter were killed and another child was injured when their car collided head-on with another vehicle.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office reports that 27-year-old Candy Greathouse was driving on U.S. 27 Monday evening when she crossed the median and hit a truck.

Officials say Greathouse was thrown from her car and died at the scene. The Winter Haven News Chief ( http://bit.ly/VBVBya) reports that her 3-month-old daughter, Leilani Isabella Greathouse, was airlifted to a nearby hospital but died from her injuries. Greathouse's 2-year-old daughter, Arianna Kayli Greathouse, was airlifted to a Tampa hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

The truck's driver and passenger were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
